The Vulgar
Following on from The Concise Dictionary of Dress, the exhibition looked at the intersection between fashion and psychoanalysis via one word. The exhibition presented and responded to various definitions of the vulgar written by the psychoanalyst Adam Phillips. Along with displaying objects from a 500-year span, The Vulgar referenced fashion’s own history of display.
Wigs by Angelo Seminara, millinery by Stephen Jones, illustrations by Alice Smith. Exhibition designed in collaboration with Sam Collins.
